Eminent filmmaker Sandip Ray was toying with the idea of making a film on ‘Bhoot’ – ghosts. Actually Sandip Ray wanted to make a film on ghosts before making Royal Bengal Rahasay but due to some reasons he had to postponed the idea.
Now Sandip Ray is prepared to make a Bengali film on ghosts after lot of studies and viewing many ghost films of old days. The ultimate outcome is that Sandip Ray has selected four short stories on ghosts, 3 of Satyajit Ray and one story of Sharadindu Bandopadhyay. The four stories will be merged into one film. The title of the film is not yet decided and the film will not be a typical horror film. Shooting of the film will start on 5 August and Sandip Ray hopes that the film will be released by December this year.
The three stories from Satyajit Ray’s work are Anathbabur Bhoy, Brown Shaheber Bari and Lucknower Duel. The fourth story is Bhoot Bhobishyot and it is written by Sharadindu Bandopadhyay. Sandip Ray has decided the shooting locations as follows:
Anathbabur Bhoy and Bhoot Bhobishyot will be shot in Bolpur. Brown Shaheber Bari will be shot in Kalimpong and Lucknower Duel will be shot in Lucknow.
Saswata Chatterjee will play the role of a writer in Bhoot Bhobishyot . Paran Bandopadhyay will play Tarini Khuro. Abir Chatterjee, Dwijen Bandopadhyay and Biswajit Chakraborty will be in Brown Shaheber Bari. Other actors and actresses are yet to be finalized.
