Swastika Mukherjee and recent controversy on alleged shoplifting

Swastika Mukherjee and controversy has become anonymous. Tollywood was proud of recent screening of Bengali films before international audiences in Darpan film festival of Singapore. But the controversy involving Bengali actress Swastika Mukherjee is now the most discussed event. The allegation is that Swastika Mukherjee was caught in shoplifting act in Singapore.

Year 2014 is not a good year for Swastika Mukherjee. Nude Swastika in film Take One, Swastika – Suman Mukhopadhyay issue, alleged suicide attempt of Swastika and many controversies are now an integral part of Swastika Mukherjee. The recent issue is humiliating one. A pair of earrings costing 250 dollars was missing from a Singapore boutique which was last seen in the hands of Swastika Mukherjee.

Swastika Mukherjee was the only actress from Tollywood in the film festival which started on 1 November. On the day of the incidence, Swastika and Suman were in the boutique named Mythology. On the next morning the organizer of the film festival, Shreyoshi Sen received a mail from owner of Mythology and the message was that a pair of earrings gone missing and those were in hands of the Bengali actress Swastika Mukherjee. The owner of the boutique further stated that she wants the earrings returned or payment of the pair.

The CCTV footage also shows that the earrings were in the hands of Swastika Mukherjee. In Singapore, punishment for shoplifting of items with cost upto 45 dollars can be a 3 month jail sentence.
