Veteran Bengali film director Aurobindo Mukherjee passed away today at his Kolkata residence. He was 97.
Aurobindo Mukherjee was ailing from geriatric problems for some time and he is survived by two sons and a daughter. The director's wife died earlier. Aurobindo Mukherjee has directed many superhit Bengali films like 'Agniswar', 'Mouchak' and 'Nishipadma' and matinee idol Uttam Kumar acted in those films.
Jaya Bachchan, then Jaya Bhaduri was discovered by Aurobindo Mukherjee in his film 'Dhanyee Meye' in 1971.
