Karni Sena Chief said "We never raise our hands on women, but if we are provoked we will do to her what Lord Ram's brother, Lakshman, did to Surpanakha (cut off her nose)."

Deepika Padukone gets special security after threats over film Padmavati

Film Padmavati is based on Rani Padmini of Chittor and mostly Rajput groups, say the film wrongly implies a romantic relationship between the queen and Emperor Alauddin Khilji.

Rajasthan government struggles to handle the protests while the Uttar Pradesh government of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has written to the Centre saying that the release of the film can pose a law and order problem for the state.

Padmavati stars Deepika Padukone as the Queen, while Shahid Kapoor plays Maharawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh plays Alauddin Khilji.
