Lakshmi
Sehgal, great freedom fighter and close associate of Netaji Subhash Chandra
Bose is no more in this world. Lakshmi Sehgal died today in Kanpur. Her age was
98 years. Lakshmi Sehgal was admitted to the hospital after she suffered from
heart attack on 19 July 2012. Lakshmi Sehgal had donated her body to a medical
college earlier.

Sehgal was the first captain of Rani Jhansi Regiment of Azad Hind Fauj.
Afterwards Lakshmi Sehgal joined CPI (M) on 1971 and on 2002 she was the Left
Front candidate in Presidential election. In the election she lost to APJ Abdul
Kalam. During the last few years Lakshmi Sehgal kept herself away from active
politics.
Great freedom fighter worked with a great leader. May her soul rest in peace. It's a pity leaders like her get little mention in today's politics. Jai Hind!!!
