Shatabdi Roy is from a middle class family of Agartala. Her father is Shailen Roy and mother is Nilima Roy. She is one of those rare film stars whose marriage was arranged through matrimonial columns of daily news paper.

Film Career of Shatabdi Roy

Shatabdi’s debut film was ‘Atanka’, a classic Bengali film directed by Tapan Sinha in 1986. After that has acted in many films under many famous directors.

She has an acting school also, ‘Shatabdi Foundation’ where she grooms new talents. Recently she is directing films also.

As heroine Shatabdi Roy has acted with Prosenjit in most of her films. This pair was once super hit in Bengali films. Afterwards Prosenjit and Rituparna pair clicked in box office of Bengali cinema and Tapas Pal – Shatabdi pair worked in many romantic Bengali films.

So far Shatabdi has acted in nearly 150 Bengali films. Some of her hit films are Debipuja, Atanka etc.
