Box office reports of 2012 Bengali films and expected trends in 2013


There are several questions in the air related to Bengali films in 2012. How was the market and which type of Bengali films dominated the box office of Bengali films in 2012? In this article we will see what new dimensions were opened for Bengali films in 2012 and what the new gains are.

100% Love is another romantic commercial film in 2012 with good box office response and collection.

Film name: Aparajita Tumi

Film Aparajita Tumi was based on novel of Sunil Gangopadhyay and the story was on human relationship. This film was a serious type of much hyped movie but the box office collection was not upto the mark. This was a critically acclaimed film.

Dev and Jeet are doing the same type of roles since last few years and box office report of their films indicate that in 2013 also they will act in same type of characters and films. Prasenjit is doing experiments with his roles and still moving very strong, so we can expect more critical roles from him in 2013.

So far as actresses are concerned, first of all the name of Swastika Mukherjee comes. Swastika is doing different type of roles successfully. Koel Mallick maintained her romantic image. Rituparna Sengupta is still the number one heroine in Bengali films. Paoli Dam may get a solid platform in Bengali film industry in 2013 through her acting talent. Roopa Ganguly is now doing that type of roles which suits her age. More expectations from Roopa in 2013 from Bengali film audiences.

In 2013, trends in Bengali films will be both commercial romantic films and novel based films as both have gained popularity in 2012.
