Bengali film Baghini based on life of Mamata Banerjee


Upcoming Bengali film Baghini is based on life of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The film will be released before the West Bengal assembly elections 2016.  Director of the film is Nehal Dutta and folk theatre artist Ruma Chakraborty will play the role of Mamata Banerjee in film Baghini.

Film Baghini will be released in April this year. First look of the film is released on 27 February 2016. Poster of film Baghini shows the transformation of a simple ordinary girl to a powerful woman.

Story of the film Baghini


Film Baghini is based on the lead female character Indira Bandopadhyay, based on the life of Mamata Banerjee. The film revolves around the close relationship of the leader with common people, her strong desire to stand by the poor people. Many political events are shown in the film. The main story of the film is based on the journey of the village girl who lost her father at an early age but follows her father’s ideology.
