Rituparna Sengupta says her new film is a tribute to Bappi Lahiri

  Actress Rituparna Sengupta has started working on a new film and she declared it as a tribute to the late music director Bappi Lahiri. Two schedules of the film have already been completed with the final leg of shoot set to take place in a week for which Rituparna is in Mumbai currently. The yet-to-be-titled film is a dark comedy, directed by Rajan Lallan Puri, and also stars Govind Namdev, Rajpal Yadav, Prem Chopra, Anup Jalota and debutant Anjuman.

Rituparna said, "This film has a very strong yet interesting subject line which we don't generally get to watch in the dark comedy genre." "I had been approached by the late Bappi Lahiri for this film which is also his last film where he has given music, so I couldn't think of not doing this film. This film is also my way of celebrating him and giving tribute to him. Right now the shooting is almost done and I am very excited to be part of this film."

"Interestingly this film is co-produced by the late Bappi Lahiri, her daughter Rema Lahiri and his son-in-law Govind Bansal," she added. Rituparna's recent Hindi feature film, 'Ittar' by Veena Bakshi, opposite Deepak Tijori, is completed, along with another Hindi feature film opposite Arbaaz Khan and Mahesh Manjrekar, named 'Kal Trighori' is also on its way to release.

Rituparna will also be seen in a Bengali edgy love story film 'Salt' opposite Chandan Roy Sanyal as well followed by Kabir Lal's film 'Antar Drishti' with Riteish Deshmukh.

Uttam Kumar Biopic Achena Uttam

 Atanu Bose’s much-anticipated Uttam Kumar biopic ‘Achena Uttam’ will be released release on June 24. Saswata Chatterjee will be seen as the matinee idol in film Achena Uttam.

‘Achena Uttam’, with an ensemble cast, aims to shed light beyond Uttam Kumar’s public persona and film journey. The film will see Rituparna Sengupta as Suchitra Sen, Ditipriya Roy as Sabitri Chatterjee, Srabanti Chatterjee as Gouri Devi and Priyanshu Chatterjee as Satyajit Ray.

What Abhishek Chatterjee Told About Prosenjit And Rituparna

  Abhishek Chatterjee who passed away on Thursday had created a storm with his explosive comment back in 2020. In an interview with Times of India, the actor took a cheeky dig at his once co-actors Prosenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta for damaging his career when he was at the peak of his career in Bengali cinema.

Abhishek had said, “I have been part of this industry for the past 35 years. I have acted in more than 250 films. I shall always remain thankful to two people, Tapas Paul and Chiranjeet Chakraborty, who helped me a lot in my career. Though I was working as a hero, I had to face a lot of politics at one point in time. I was out of work for nine years. I had no option but to work in jatra to earn my bread and butter.”

Then he slammed his two co-actors openly, “I was disappointed and hurt with how the 'hit pair' of the time, Prosenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta, played a part in causing serious damages to my career. However, I believe in destiny. I have worked as a hero in several films with almost all the heroines and directors. I am happy that I could make a mark in this industry without any godfather.”

Rituparna and Chandan Roy Sanyal will be again seen together in Hindi film titled Salt. Director Sunny Roy will make his debut in direction with this film Salt. All the actors in film Salt are from Tollywood but the film will be done in Hindi and the producer is also from Bollywood.

Rituparna Injures Wrist While Cycling

Rituparna Sengupta who is currently spending time with her family in Singapore met with an accident recently. The seasoned actress has developed a habit of cycling to stay fit these days. However, recently she twisted her wrist and currently recovering from the injury.

“It happened when I was about to turn the cycle but in the process twisted my wrist on right hand. The third finger is also injured. It’s paining really bad. But I am slowly recovering. I have also tried acupuncture. Let’s see how long it takes to recover. Otherwise, I am fine. There’s no fracture,” 

The celebrated actress is currently in Singapore with her family and amid all the quality family time, she didn’t put her creative mind to rest. She has even launched her YouTube channel during this lockdown.

Speaking about the ongoing favouritism debate in the film industry the seasoned actress said: “It’s a fact that a star might be more comfortable to work with a certain actor. I have also witnessed many others being cast over me. But that didn’t find me sitting back and complain. I believe losing one chance does not mean the next opportunity won’t come to me. There is a saying, ‘it is a big, bad world’. But I would like to say, ‘it is a big, bad, beautiful world’.”

Sreelekha was getting roles of Prosenjit's sister in the film and she was never considered as leading actress opposite him.

Sreelekha Mitra has blamed another renowned filmmaker Kaushik Ganguly. Accroding to Sreelekha, Kaushik Ganguly makes films for Churni Ganguly and same for Srijit whoat one time used to make films for Swastika Mukherjee.

ED Summons Bengali Actress Rituparna Sengupta

After Prosenjit Chatterjee, another Tollywood film star, Actress Rituparna Sengupta has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection to the Rose Valley scam. Ritu's name was earlier involved in the scam.

But all these reports need to be proved.

Tollywood superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee was also summoned by ED recently for his alleged connection with the Rose Valley scam. The Bengali star will have to appear before the agency on July 19. So far as Prosenjit is concerned, he had shared the stage with Rose Valley Group chairman Gautam Kundu at a number of Rose Valley events. ED has asked him to appear before them in order to investigate whether any monetary transactions happened between him and Gautam Kundu.

Bengali Film Goheen Hriday Story Cast and Crew

Actress Rituparna Sengupta has nothing to prove in Bengali film industry. The actress herself is an institution now for Bengali films. Rituparna will again be seen in a critical character in film Gaheen Hriday by director Agnidev Chatterjee and based on author Suchitra Bhattacharya's best-selling novel of the same name. 

Rituparna Sengupta plays the role of Sohini who is married to Bhaskar, played by Debshankar. Sohini is caught in a complex relationship between Bhaskar and Anupam, friend of Bhaskar. Kaushik Roy plays the role of Anupam. Sohini is determined to settle with Anupam leaving her husband, Bhaskar and at this point the story reaches the climax. Bhaskar is diagnosed with Cancer.

What should Sohini do? Marriage is not just a bond between husband and wife. The film shows how the wife of a cancer patient handles the crisis.
