World famous film-maker Satyajit Ray was born on 2nd
May 1921. Today is Satyajit Ray’s 92nd birthday. Ray died on 23
April 1992, 20 years ago. Bengali TV channel Star Ananda will telecast a
special program on Satyajit Ray today on occasion of his 92nd birth
anniversary. Soumitra Chottopadhyay, eminent Bengali actor who has worked in
many films of Satyajit Ray will be present in the TV program,
Kolkata paid tribute to Satyajit Ray on his 92nd
birthday. Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute like every year arranged
their annual convocation on 2nd May, At Nandan the film "The
Bicycle Thief" by Vittorio Di Sica was screened. This film was one of the
favourite films of Satyajit Ray. West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee along
with Anup Ghoshal paid tribute to Satyajit Ray.
