Monali Thakur–playback singer of Hindi and Bengali films


Article on sweet playback singer Monali Thakur, her singing career and recent works.
Monali Thakur is from a family with music in background. Her father Shakti Thakur is a Bengali singer and acted in many Bengali movies. Elder sister of Monali Thakur is Mehuli Thakur Goswami, who is also a professional playback singer.

From her school days, Monali has associated herself with singing in different competitions and functions. As a child artist she also appeared in Bengali TV serial, ‘Aalokito ek Indu’. Monali Thakur came into limelight after the Indian Idol 2 where she reached the 9th position. However Anu Malik, one of the judges recognized her talent and offered her to sing in Hindi movie ‘Jaan-E-Mann’. In 2008, Monali Thakur was offered to sing two songs in the hit film ‘Race’ under music director Pritam Chakraborty.

After these two songs, Monali got popularity in both Hindi and Bengal film industry as playback singer.
