Actress Locket Chatterjee joins BJP

Bengali film actors and actresses are involving themselves more and more in politics. Just before 2011 West Bengal assembly election, number of Tollywood actors and actresses joined Trinamool Congress. Trinamool Congress still has huge followers from Tollywood but the recent trend is something different. Although no superstar from Bengali films has yet joined BJP but the party is gradually penetrating in Tollywood.

After Roopa Ganguly, Locket Chatterjee joins BJP today. Unlike Roopa, Locket was a member of Trinamool Congress and West Bengal Women's Commission member. Locket has resigned from both the party and  and West Bengal Women's Commission membership. Locket said: "The Saradha scam has put the party (TMC) in a strange situationa there is an odd mistrust prevailing within the party. Wherever I go, I have to hear about the Saradha scam from people despite some of us not being involved".

Locket Chatterjee further told: "I feel perhaps nobody within the party (TMC) now trusts others".Chatterjee said that the present situation in the party is suffocating she was looking for a breather and a party which will provide her the platform to work.
