Zubeen Garg Biography and Personal Profile



Zubeen Garg, born as Zubeen Borthakur is a famous name in Assamese film industry. Zubeen is an Indian playback singer, music director, playback singer, composer, songwriter, music producer, film director, film producer and actor.

Zubeen Garg is an artist. He acts in Assamese films and sings Assamese, Bishnupriya Manipuri, Bodo, English, Goalparia, Kannada, Karbi, Khasi, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Odia, Tamil, Telugu and Tiwa. Zubeen plays dhol, guitar, mandolin, keyboard and various percussion instruments.

Date of Birth of Zubeen Garg: 18 November 1971

Zubeen Garg hails from Jorhat, Assam but he was born in Tura, Meghalaya. Zubeen was named after the composer Zubin Mehta and uses his gotra name, Garg, as his surname. 

Parents of Zubeen Garg: Zubeen's father Mohini Borthakur is also a poet and lyricist writing under the name Kapil Thakur. His mother Ily Borthakur was a dancer, actress and singer. 

Siblings of Zubeen Garg: His younger sister Jonkey Borthakur was an actress and singer who died in a car accident in 2002. Zubeen's other sister Palme is a Bharata Natyam dancer.

Spouse of Zubeen Garg: Zubeen married Garima Saikia on 4 February 2002. Garima is a fashion designer.

Career of Zubeen Garg

Debut album of Zubeen Garg is Anamika, released in 1992. Other famous albums of Zubeen are  Maya, Asha and Pakhi. In the late 90's Zubeen Garg moved to Mumbai and he recorded few Hindi albums and films like Chandni Raat, Yuhi Kabhi, Fiza and Kaante.

Zubeen got the biggest break in Bollywood in the film Gangster.The song Ya Ali of Gangster was a hit song in 2006. 

Zubeen Garg also has acted in few Assamese films. He played the lead role in Mon Jai, which won the best Assamese Film in the 56th National Film Awards.

As a human being Zubeen Garg is a man with golden heart. Zubeen runs a charity which donates money for various causes.
