Story – cast & crew of patriotic Bengali film Egaro


Bengali film Egaro is based on the real story of winning I.F.A shield by Mohun Bagan in 1911.  It was not a mere football match, the eleven (Egaro) barefooted football players of Mohun Bagan took the match as a fight against the British Raj. Mohun Bagan won the prestigious match beating East Yorkshire Regiment. This victory is not a simple victory of any football club in a football match. It is a considered as a victory against the Britishers. Egaro is a patriotic film.

Story behind the Bengali film Egaro


First decade of 20th century was very painful for Bengali patriots. Partition of Bengal in 1905 demoralised Bengalis. In 1908, Khudiram Bose was hanged and Prafulla Chaki shot himself to avoid arrest. Bengalis were demoralized a little bit. At that time Bengal needed the power to stable itself. Footballers of Mohun Bagan stirred the patriotic feelings again among the people through a foot match. Millions of people, irrespective of caste and creed united on the cause of Nationalism, patriotic feelings to see the victory of Mohun Bagan in the final match of I.F.A shield. They wanted to see the defeat of Britishers on the ground.

This win in football match motivated Indians to drive the Britishers out of our country. This victory brought the message that ‘we can win’.

Casts & crew of Bengali film Egaro


New faces are in this film. This film is the debut film of Ranadeep Bose, grandson of Soumitra Chatterjee. Ranadeep is in this film as Abilash Ghosh. Hirak Das is another new face in Bengali film is in this film as Caption Shibdas Bhaduri.
