Year 2012 was a blend of joy, sorrow and hope. Bollywood has witnessed death of filmy celebrities like Rajesh Khanna and Yash Chopra. One after another Rs. 100 crore team films are being made here. 2012 was also a successful year for Salman Khan. Top Bollywood actresses like Kareena Kapoor and Vidya Balan have tied the knot. Many new faces have entered the industry in 2012. Overall observation is that the year was a productive year for Bollywood.
For the first time in Bollywood
Indian cinema has completed its 100 years on 21 April 2012 and still going strong. For the first time in his acting career, Salman Khan worked under the Yash Raj Films banner - ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and the film was a blockbuster. Music director AR Rahman composed songs for the same banner and same film ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’. This was AR Rahman’s first work with Yash Raj banner. Not a single song was sung by legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar in ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ directed by Yash Chopra under Yash Raj banner. This was very unuasual but it happened. Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif worked together for the first time in a film and that was in ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’.
In 2012, adault movie star Sunny Leone entered the commercial Bollywood film industry. Sunny Leone made her debut with Pooja Bhatt film Jism 2 and she has bagged many offers from Bollywood Hindi films. Sunny Leone is now thinking seriously to settle in Hindi film industry.
Most of our popular actors in Bollywood have already entered TV channels as hosts of different reality shows. Aamir Khan made his debut in TV with ‘Satyamev Jayate’.
Bollywood celebrity pregnancy and delivery in 2012
The list of new born Bollywood celebrity babies is not too short. Aaradhya, daughter of Aishwariya – Abhisekh and grand daughter of Amitabh – Jaya was born in 2012. New baby son was born in the family of Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao. Actress Lara Dutta gave birth to her daughter Saira in 2012. Bollywood actress Celina Jaitley became mother of twin kids in 2012. The latest addition to the list is the daughter Nitara of Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna.

Balance sheet of the year 2012 for Bollywood ‘Badshah’ Shah Rukh Khan may not be very encouraging. In the start of the year, the much hyped film ‘Ra.One’ was released but the movie failed in box office. Shah Rukh Khan is known as a sincere husband and caring father but there was a controversy on his ‘friendship’ with Priyanka Chopra. Shah Rukh Khan’s team Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL 2012 but he was at the center of controversies on many occasions. Shah Rukh was found guilty for smoking at the ‘smoke-free’ Jaipur stadium. In Mumbai, during an IPL match Shah Rukh Khan was engaged in verbal fight with security men. At the end part of the year 2012, Shah Rukh, Katrina and Anushka Sharma starrer film ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ has done better in the box office. Hope, Shah Rukh Khan will bounce back in 2013 and the coming year will see that Shah Rukh who always wants to win and hates defeat.
Women power in Bollywood
Hindi films are normally male character dominated. In 2012 many women centric movies were made and all the films were box office hit. Films like ‘Kahaani’, ‘Heroine’ and ‘English Vinglish’ received appreciation from audiences are all the films are box office hit movies of 2012.
Bollywood comeback in 2012
Year 2012 is also a successful comeback year for many actresses in Bollywood. After a long gap, Sridevi made her comeback in Bollywood Hindi films with ‘English Vinglish’. Rani Mukerjee also made her comeback after a gap of one year. Rani has acted in two films in 2012 - ‘Aiyyaa’ and ‘Talaash’. Karisma Kapoor is also back to Bollywood industry and Preity Zinta has returned to Bollywood as a producer of film ‘Ishq in Paris’.

Every year Bollywood sees new faces. Arjun Kapoor, son of producer Boney Kapoor has made his debut in Hindi film industry with Yash Raj’s ‘Ishaqzaade’. In the film ‘Student of the Year’, director Karan Johar has launched three fresh faces - Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan. South actress Ileana D’Cruz has made her debut in Bollywood Hindi films with Anurag Basu’s ‘Barfi!’. Diana Penty is another actress with a beautiful face has made debut in Hindi films with Saif Ali Khan’s film. Porn star Sunny Leone has worked for the first time in a traditional film in 2012. The film was ‘Jism 2’.

Poonam Pandey, Rozlyn Khan and Sherlyn Chopra were in the competition and the battle is not yet finished. May be from 1 January 2013, the competion will start again with new ideas and plans.
