Swastika Mukherjee Threatened of Rape And Acid Attack

Cyberbullying hits a new low everyday with both common citizens and celebs sharing how they receive threats on social media. Sushant Singh Rajput’s death put Bollywood under the scanner and the public outrage over the nepotism debate has resulted in celebs falling prey to brutal cyberbullying.

Closer home, Swastika Mukherjee, who stars in Sushant Singh Rajput’s last project, Dil Bechara, has revealed shocking details of how she was threatened with rape and acid attack after a misquoted interview of hers went viral.

She took to social media to inform her fans and followers that she was allegedly misquoted by a Kolkata-based online news portal soon after the actor’s untimely demise. The online portal misquoted Swastika in a story and mentioned that she had said “suicide ta ajkal ekta fashion hoye gache” (Suicide has become a fashion trend now).

Swastika approached the cybercrime department of Kolkata Police and lodged a complaint against the reporter who published the news. That apart, she also lodged an FIR against the person who threatened her online. The two accused were arrested by senior officials of Kolkata Police’s cybercrime department today.

The actress has urged everyone to take the route of law when it comes to cyberbullying.
