Time
period of the film Tadanto is Kolkata of 80’s. Nisha and Abhi are from the same
college and they are in love. Abhi is from a lower middle class family and that’s
why Nisha’s father Kashinath is against their relationship. Kashinath gets her
daughter married to Dr. Dinesh Choudhury, a Jute Mill owner. Dinesh has a
relationship with bar dancer Mona. Mona wants to marry Dinesh but her dream is
not fulfilled. Rabi is the owner of a cheap bar where Mona works and she is a
victim of Rabi's lust, the villain in the film. Nisha breaks the relationship with her
husband as she comes to know about the relationship between Dinesh and Mona.
After few years Dinesh is murdered and a police inspector Mr. Dey Sarkar takes
the case.
