Debashis Mondal and Swastika Dutta in Web Series Johnny Bonnie

 Debashis Mondal and Swastika Dutta will be seen in new web series Johnny Bonnie. Child artist Ankit Majumder is also with them. Abhijit Chowdhury is the director of this detective thriller series which is made in the style of comedy. The first look of this series has been released recently.

Debashis Mondal will be seen in the role of a young police officer in this series. Debashis Mondal's character in the web series is Janardhan Das alias Johnny. Swastika Dutta will be seen as Debashis' wife in the series. On the other hand, the story of this series is made up of Bonny, the son of the wife's sister, i.e. the actor Ankit Majumdar.

Although Johnny is a police officer, he has no challenging job as a police officer. On the contrary, he works as a guard at the house of local leader Promod Sen. Johnny's fortunes suddenly change when three miscreants attack Promod Sen's house and Johnny shoots himself to save Promod Sen with infinite courage. But Rimi, daughter of Promod Sen, has not been found since the incident. Johnny is in charge of the investigation. Johnny begins to investigate and gradually realizes that some very powerful people are involved in the whole incident and the local police do not really want the investigation to be resolved. On the other hand, Johnny's wife's son Bonnie's chess tournament started. Bonnie came to Kolkata from Durgapur to play chess.

Will Johnny be able to solve the first investigation of his career? Will Bonnie be able to prove himself by winning the chess tournament? Or the two of them need to help each other to achieve their goals. The story of 'Johnny Bonnie' is about a mystery, a chess game, a police officer who wants to touch a dream and a teenager.

Apart from Debashis, Swastika, Ankit, the series also features Kamleshwar Mukherjee, Loknath Dey, Anirban Bhattacharya, Yudhajit Sarkar, Shubhasmita Mukherjee, Puspita Mukherjee, Jayati Chakraborty, Abhuday Dey and Tusita Bandyopadhyay. Abhijit Chowdhury has written the story and screenplay of this series along with the director. The series is produced by Milk Way Films.

Arpita Chatterjee and her Upcoming Film Rifle

Arpita Chatterjee will be seen in a different type of role in film Rifle. The versatile actress will be seen as an IPS officer in Raajhorshee De’s ‘Rifle’. It is learnt that the actress is busy in learning some close combat skills and even boxing to justify the character.

 Recently Arpita Chatterjee's performance in Arjunn Dutta’s ‘Abyakto’ was appreciated by filmy critics and she is busy with film Rifle. We know that Arpita Chatterjee is a different kind of actress who can essay any critical role easily. 

Arpita Chatterjee said “There is a recent trend of women cops in Indian cinema. I am playing a female cop in this film. I have some really interesting stunts here and so I am training for close combat scenes. Boxing is what I am focusing on. In fact, I have the basic strength as I work out regularly. So, I am all ready for the challenge.” 

Film Rifle is a crime thriller revolving around the illegal arms business taking place in the state. Based on Rupak Saha’s unpublished story ‘Khuchro Poysar Jonyo’, the film sheds light on an illegal racket using coins to make arms.

Beside Arpita Chatterjee as an IPS officer, Pujarini Ghosh, Rudranil Ghosh, Kamaleswar Mukherjee, and Babul Supriyo will also play pivotal roles in the film.

Amazon Obhijaan to be release in six languages

Tollywood film 'Amazon Obhijaan', a sequel to Bengali blockbuster 'Chander Pahar', is going to be  the first Bengali film to be released in five other languages - Bengali, Hindi, Odia, Assamese, Tamil and Telugu..

Amazon Obhijaan is directed by Kamaleswar Mukherjee and the film is based on popular Bengali writer Bibhutibhusan Bandyopadhyay's classic adventure fiction. The film will be released on 22 December 22.

Director Kamaleswar Mukherjee said, "Two years after fictional Italian adventurer Marco Florian failed in his mission, his daughter Anna approaches the well-known Bengali explorer Shankar Choudhury, requesting him to join her for an expedition. Shankar readily accepts Anna's request and a journey begins to the heart of Amazon, to discover the hidden city of gold, El Dorado."

Unique Features of Bengali film Amazon Obhijaan

Bengali film Amazon Obhijaan is all set to break many records in Bengali film industry as well as in Indian Film industry. This film has been shot in the Amazon forest and the budget is Rs 20 crores. Film Amazon Obhijaan may be a trend setter for Bengali films.

“We have packed in everything that Bengali movies haven’t seen before. From extensive use of VFX, to shoot at exotic locations and a whopping budget. Amazon Obijaan is breaking stereotypes associated with Tollywood films,” said Mahendra Soni, co-founder  and director at SVF.

The first film in the franchisee, Chander Pahar also introduced new concepts in Bengali film industry Film Chander Pahar was released in 2013 and the film was shot in South Africa.

Recently a 320-feet long and 190-feet wide poster of Amazon Obhijaan was unveiled at the Mohun Bagan football ground in Kolkata. Film Amazon Obhijaan is also coming up with a graphic novel with the entire story line of the film.


The film stars Tollywood hero Dev in the lead and is directed by Kamaleshwar Mukherjee. Laboni Sarkar will be seen playing the role of Dev's mother in the film.

Film Amazon Obhijaan will be released on 22 December 2017.
