Prosenjit Jaya In Film Against The Backdrop of The Pandemic

Prosenjit Chatterjee and Jaya Ahsan are once again set to come together for Indraadip Das Gupta’s next film set against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic. Title of the film is Asatoma Sadgamaya ...... talks about the struggle of human existence and has just five characters in all.

The film shows how this pandemic has become a part of our psyche, affecting our overall behaviour. Though COVID-19 is the backdrop, the film is not entirely on the pandemic. 

Besides Prosenjit and Jaya, the film also stars Rudranil Ghosh and Arun Mukhopadhyay. Search is still on for the fifth character. Prosenjit, who is set to hear the script on July 20, said, “The initial talks with ID are over. I like the film’s concept and will go through the script soon. What I like about him is the sensitivity with which he tells his stories through a broad canvas, which is cinema. I’m keeping my fingers crossed till the next step.”

Jaya Ahsan is eagerly waiting to be in Kolkata as soon as flight services resume, so that she can start shooting for the film. “When the director narrated the story to me, I could instantly relate to it. All of us are facing psychological challenges in the wake of this pandemic. I’m so looking forward to working in this film,” 

While the original story is by Indraadip, the script is being penned jointly by Padmanabha Dasgupta and him. The music of the film, which will go on the floors from September-end, is composed by the director himself and Subhankar Bhar is the man behind the camera.

Story of film Konttho is inspired by a real-life incident, it chronicles around the life of a popular radio jockey Arjun Mallik, whose life changes forever when he gets diagnosed with laryngeal cancer. The film deals with the struggle of the artist to survive. Shiboprosad Mukherjee plays the character of radio jockey Arjun Mallik, while Paoli Dam plays his wife Pritha and Jaya Ahsan is a speech therapist in the film Konttho.

Film Konttho’s inspiration came from late Bibhuti Chakraborty, a cancer survivor. Doctors removed his vocal cord through Laryngectomy but Chakraborty did not buckled down. Mr. Chakraborty fought all the adversities and even helped others to overcome their struggles.

Malayalam filmmaker Rajesh Nair has already bought the copyright of the film before its theatrical release. Title of the Malayalam version of Konttho will be Shabdam and noted actor Jayasurya will be seen as the radio jockey.

Nusrat and Jaya targeted on social media for celebrating Durga Puja

Bengalees from all over the World were celebrating and enjoying Durga Puja, two Bengali actresses were targeted on internet for celebrating Durga Puja! Jaya Ahsan and Nusrat Jahan were surprised when their posts and photos were stalked and picked on by trolls.

On Sashthi, Nusrat Jahan uploaded a video to spread festive cheer. In two days, Nusrat's social media accounts were swamped with unpleasant comments. On Ashtami, the actress decided to respond and uploaded a post on Twitter: "We are all human beings, until race disconnected us... religion separated us... politics divided us and wealth classified us.
People have become educated, have not become human... If u say I am not religious... I believe I am a humanists first... because human beings are more important than dogma and traditions... let's b human first, preach love and respect, not reli gion... !! (sic).

Nusrat Jahan enjoyed her Durga Puja with friends and family and the actress said, "It just shows that some people are not as secular as I am. Frankly , I had a great time -I offered anjali on Ashtami and went pandal-hopping. Also, my post is straight from the heart, I feel nothing more or less than what I have already written."

Jaya Ahsan's Facebook profile was also inundated with abusive comments on two occasions during this Durga Puja. Jaya uploaded a picture with her mother on Nabami and captioned it as: "Amader barir Dugga Pujo te ami ar maa" and when she uploaded an album called Bishorjon with behind-the-camera stills of her, during the shoot of Kaushik Ganguly's film of the same name. 

Jaya said "The picture with my mother was clicked at the Puja in our residential compound. This is where 300 people of different religions happily co exist -it's a mini Bangladesh.We celebrate Puja in a big way .Only today , I posted a picture of `Muharram-er khichuri' that my mother prepared. Before I was awake, she divided the khichuri into small portions so that it could be sent to the houses in our neighbourhood. We don't send the khichuri only to Muslim families, but also to Hindus.Likewise, we send halwa to everyone on Shab-e-Barat. Those who are on social media and have an easy access to internet don't know much about my country .And because they lack education, they are not aware of Islam. As per Islam, a rich man and a fakir are supposed to read namaz together and eat from the same plate on Eid. Islam unites, it doesn't divide."

Film Bishorjon key character looks revealed

Kaushik Ganguly is getting ready to set fire on big screen with his next film Bishorjon, a film on Indo-Bangladesh border. In the film Bishorjon, Abir Chatterjee plays a Muslim man and Jaya Ahsan plays a Hindu girl. 

Abir Chatterjee shared the first look of the film on social media. Late Kalika Prasad is the music director of the film.

Eagoler Chokh Hemanta and Shikari - Box Office Reports of these Bengali films

Three Bengali films - Arindam Shil's Eagoler Chokh, Anjan Dutta's Hemanta and Shikari are released on 12 August. Among the three films, Shikari is targeting the rural audiences while Eagoler Chokh and Hemanta are targeting the multiplexes and cinema halls in urban areas.

Indo-Bangladesh production film Shikari is released in 117 cinema halls. Eagoler Chokh is released in 56 halls and Hemanta will be screened in 40 halls.

Shooting of film Lal Moroger Jhuti started

Shooting of the Jaya Ahsan starrer film Lal Moroger Jhuti started at Kusthia’s Bani cinema hall on 22 March 2016. Nurul Alam Atiq is the director of the film and on the first day two scenes have been shot.

Two roosters – morogs were arranged earlier and an old cinema hall was needed for the shooting.  Kusthia’s Bani cinema hall was selected for the shooting purpose and the first day shooting was done in the old cinema hall.
