Next project of Sandip Ray – a film on ghosts

Eminent filmmaker Sandip Ray was toying with the idea of making a film on ‘Bhoot’ – ghosts. Actually Sandip Ray wanted to make a film on ghosts before making Royal Bengal Rahasay but due to some reasons he had to postponed the idea.

Now Sandip Ray is prepared to make a Bengali film on ghosts after lot of studies and viewing many ghost films of old days. The ultimate outcome is that Sandip Ray has selected four short stories on ghosts, 3 of Satyajit Ray and one story of Sharadindu Bandopadhyay. The four stories will be merged into one film. The title of the film is not yet decided and the film will not be a typical horror film. Shooting of the film will start on 5 August and Sandip Ray hopes that the film will be released by December this year.

The three stories from Satyajit Ray’s work are Anathbabur Bhoy, Brown Shaheber Bari and Lucknower Duel. The fourth story is Bhoot Bhobishyot and it is written by Sharadindu Bandopadhyay. Sandip Ray has decided the shooting locations as follows:

Anathbabur Bhoy and Bhoot Bhobishyot  will be shot in Bolpur. Brown Shaheber Bari will be shot in Kalimpong and Lucknower Duel will be shot  in Lucknow.

Saswata Chatterjee will play the role of a writer in Bhoot Bhobishyot . Paran Bandopadhyay will play Tarini Khuro. Abir Chatterjee, Dwijen Bandopadhyay and Biswajit Chakraborty will be in Brown Shaheber Bari. Other actors and actresses are yet to be finalized.

Lakshmi Sehgal - Close associate of Netaji is dead

Lakshmi Sehgal, great freedom fighter and close associate of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose is no more in this world. Lakshmi Sehgal died today in Kanpur. Her age was 98 years. Lakshmi Sehgal was admitted to the hospital after she suffered from heart attack on 19 July 2012. Lakshmi Sehgal had donated her body to a medical college earlier.

Lakshmi Sehgal was the first captain of Rani Jhansi Regiment of Azad Hind Fauj. Afterwards Lakshmi Sehgal joined CPI (M) on 1971 and on 2002 she was the Left Front candidate in Presidential election. In the election she lost to APJ Abdul Kalam. During the last few years Lakshmi Sehgal kept herself away from active politics.

Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya visit Shatrughan Sinha

Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan paid a visit to actor Shatrughan Sinha at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on 19 July 2012. Shatrughan Sinha is in the hospital with a bypass heart surgery. Amitabh expressed in his blog site that Shatrughan Sinha is recovering fast. Shatrughan Sinha has worked with Amitabh in many films and recently another co-star of Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna died. Amitabh has written in his blog that it is very disturbing to see colleagues in hospital beds.

Recently Shatrughan Sinha has been shifted from ICU to a hospital room. As per doctors advice, Shatrughan Sinha will stay in the hospital for another 2-3 days. Rajesh Khanna – Anita Advani case is now a hot topic

During the last few years Rajesh Khanna was not in news. After death it seems that he will be in hot news for few more months. On 17 July 2012, Tuesday Anita Advani send a legal notice to Rajesh Khanna claiming that she is live-in partner of Rajesh Khanna for many years and she needs compensation, a house to stay and a monthly maintenance. As per the notice Anita stayed with Rajesh for last 10 years till she was restrained by Rajesh Khanna from entering the house in June 2012.

Total 43 film personalities from Bengali films will be honoured by West Bengal state government on 24 July 2012. Veteran actors like Soumitra Chatterjee, Mithun Chakraborty and Supriya Devi are in the list. 24 July is the death anniversary of legendary Bengali matinee idol Uttam Kumar. This time on 24 July 2012 Soumitra Chatterjee and Supriya Devi will be given lifetime achievement awards.

Mithun Chakraborty, who has successfully worked in both Hindi and Bengali films will be given the Mahanayak Samman 2012. Rahul Roy is back again in Hindi films - as actor, producer and director

Remember Rahul Roy with unique hair style? Actor Rahul Roy entered Bollywood film industry with a bang. In 1990, Rahul Roy and Anu agarwal starrer Hindi film Aashiqui was a superhit film. The film Aashiqui was directed by Mahesh Bhatt and this film was debut film of both Rahul and Anu. After Aashiqui, Rahul Roy acted in few films but gradually he disappeared from the screen.

Rahul Roy is all set to act in a romantic thriller Hindi film which will be produced and directed by himself. Since last few months, Rajesh Khanna was suffering from weakness and on number of occasions he was admitted to Lilavati hospital. Dimple Kapadia, Twinkle Khanna, Rinkie Khanna, Akshay Kumar and his grand children were by the side of Rajesh Khanna during the end.

Rajesh Khanna has acted in 180 films and some of his memorable films are Aradhana, Anand, Kati Patang etc. Rajesh Khanna - Sharmila Tagore and Rajesh Khanna - Mumtaz pair were superhit in Bollywood Hindi films.  Rajesh Khanna will be remembered for ever as romantic hero in Indian films.

Rajesh Khanna again hospitalized

Yesteryear superstar Rajesh Khanna is again hospitalized on Saturday evening, 14 July 2012 evening due to weakness. Rajesh Khanna was released from the same hospital, Lilavati hospital just last week.

At the end of June 2012 it was reported that Rajesh Khanna has stopped taking food and on 23 June 2012 he was admitted to Lilavati hospital. Rajesh Khanna was discharged from the hospital on 8 July 2012. Prior to that, Rajesh Khanna was admitted to the same hospital in April month of this year. It has been reported that Rajesh Khanna has been put on saline drip and he may be discharged on Sunday evening or Monday morning.

Bengali film Muktodhara is a film of Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee where Rituparna Sengupta and real life convict Nigel Akkara are in the leading roles. Nigel Akkara was in Presidency Jail for nine years. State Minister Bratya Basu is also in the film Muktodhara and he is portraying the role of Rituparna Sengupta’s husband.

The directors of the film Muktodhara are inspired from Tagore’s dance drama ‘Balmiki Pratibha’ which was staged by Nigel Akkara and other convicts of Presidency Jail. Social activist and dancer Alokananda Ray was in charge of the project. In real life, Alokananda Ray’s consistent hard work succeeded to bring Nigel Akkara from a criminal life to mainstream of the society. Story of Muktodhara is based on a real story of a convict.

Rituparna Sengupta is playing the role of Alokananda Ray in the film and Nigel Akkara is in the role of a criminal, Yusuf Mohammed.

Dara Singh is dead – the end came at 7.30 morning today

At last the great wrestler Dara Singh lost the battle. Dara Singh died today at 7.30 am at his own residence after prolonged illness. Yesterday he was discharged from Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and was shifted to his own residence in Mumbai. The doctors and relatives of Dara Singh lost the last hope as brain death of Dara Singh was declared earlier.

Dara Singh was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on 7 July after he had suffered cardiac arrest and since then he was in critical condition. There was a hope against hope that the 84 years old great wrestler of India would ultimately survive. Today morning Dara Singh breathed his last at 7.30 am at his Mumbai residence. Relatives and friends of Dara Singh were present by his side at that time. , in presence of his family and friends. Vindu Dara Singh, son of Dara Singh announced the death news of his father. It is learnt that last rites will be conducted at 2.00 pm today.
